A few weeks back my twitter friend, Perri Lewis (@PerriLewis) asked if some bloggers could do a review of her new book, Material World – The Modern Craft Bible. I jumped at the chance to see the book that she has been tweeting about for months. A short couple of days later in my mailbox was this amazing new book.
This book has a bit of everything in it. If you ever wanted to learn how to do some Quilling you can learn the basic techniques to make different types of coils.
The book is set up in a way that it is very easy and straight forward to learn different crafting styles. At the beginning of each chapter you will get a rundown of the materials needed for each craft and a description of various techniques used in that craft. What I like the most is the “Masterclass: section where you get a brief interview from a “Master” in the field. After you have practiced your techniques and learned from your Master you are then ready for your first big project.
You will be getting expert advice from Amy Butler, Kaffe Fassett, Rob Ryan, Tatty Devine, Liberty and many more on subjects ranging from Embroidery to Cross Stitch, Patchwork to Applique and dozens of things in between.
This book is a must have for any experienced crafter and the novice alike. Everyone will gain something from ready Material World. Now get it and learn something new.
